this saturday had a perfect combination of splendid activities. the whole weekend has been pretty fab, really. i shared friday evening with the boys. having several smashing rounds of tennis and the best shaved ice in provo. saturday morning i arose early for a morning workout and then met friends in the park to teach an outdoor yoga class. quite honestly, no one could show up and i would probably still practice. there is something so energizing about performing a sun salutation while actually basking in the warmth of the morning sunlight.
earlier in the week kyle had presented an idea to me: the zoo. um yes, please. outdoors, cute animals (i just don't think about the whole stuck in cages away from their natural habitat thing too long...) and the day with some of my favorite people? what is not to be excited about. i have decided the best way to get older is to act younger. i think that i have it mastered (but i did refrain from asking for a balloon...can't say the same for the ice cream cone).
i had not heard the best reviews of the UT zoo, but it was a zoo nonetheless and so i had been excited all week. it was a perfect day for the outing. we were armed with spf, sunglasses, snacks and smiles. we saw everything from rats to monkeys, giraffes to goats, elephants to trout...it was quite the random mix (but what zoo doesn't have lions!?) there was not a penguin exhibit but i made do.
i was in the best of company and could not have asked for a better time.
something about exercising all morning and walking around in the hot sun for 4 hours really does a girl in. slept the whole way home and just in time to get back for a ward bonfire. even though we were exhausted and barely stayed awake on the drive up the canyon, there was still football, soccer, and s'mores to partake in.
the past couple weeks have consisted of tennis, football, running, and yoga everyday. so the 3 hour sunday coma that i just took felt fantastic. church was wonderful, skype was cute, whitney is off to chile (her farewell was today), dinner is cooking, and my book is calling my name. oh and new york/dc is in 9 days. nbd.
a'dios.
