mary.

Lately, a greater portion of my personal scripture study and spiritual reflection has been on Mary- Jesus' mother. It began with studying about the Atonement and The Plan of Salvation. But the more that I studied the intricacies and truths of this plan, I kept coming back to Mary- to the amazing sacrifice that she had made for the world. One of my favorite primary songs is "He Sent His Son". I have always felt that this song says so much about our Heavenly Father's love for us. And how difficult it must have been for Him to send His son to die for us and in such a cruel manner. In no way do I mean to discount what our Heavenly Father went through by watching His son being spat upon and crucified, but He had the capacity to understand- to fully comprehend- just how important this was and how necessary such a sacrifice would be for all of mankind.  While Mary was clearly an amazing and chosen woman, she was still human. She was 100% carnal. Despite her testimony of the plan, she still came equipped with the maternal instincts and love that overcome a mother with her child. Yet she gave the world her son. Just thinking about the emotions and heartache that she went through brings tears to my eyes. Studying the life of Mary has not been easy, as there is not much literature on the subject. But as I have been studying the life of the Savior, I know that she was such an important role in His life. All that she went through for Him and in turn for the world, is amazing. What kind of strength would it take to do all that Mary did?? We never hear of her complaints or begging Heavenly Father to change his mind... she was such a strong woman. I know that it is not Christmas, but I love this song.  But it should not have to be Christmas to remember the birth and life of Christ and to feel revere for the mother of our Savior.
