Um please read April's Ensign. It is wonderful, truly inspiring. It is so appropriate for the upcoming Easter holiday and just one more way to get all the more excited about General Conference this weekend!
Something that I noticed, as I have been pouring through the issue, were all the references to scriptures in Alma. I recently finished the book of Alma in my personal scripture study and maybe it's typical to say, but it is definitely on my top 3. What particularly stood out to me was the fact that the primary focuses in this Ensign were Christ (ok duh), His Atonement and resurrection and all of the references were directly correlated between traditional New Testament scriptures and scriptures in Alma. How much more clear can it be that we are a Christian people?
And oh how I love Elder Oaks' message, "The Atonement and Faith". Faith is something that I could definitely improve on...not to mention my execution. It reminded me a lot of the teachings by Stephen E. Robinson in his book, Believing Christ. It is one thing to believe in the Lord and His teachings, but it is a totally different hurdle to actually believe Him and to let Him bless your life. Thank goodness for the Prophets, good parents, friends and blessings all around, to help guide and remind us.
The other main focus in the issue was eternal families. I am so grateful for my family. I am so grateful for my parents and for the love that they have for each other and for our Savior. They have taught me well. The closer I grow to my Heavenly Father and the stronger my testimony of the gospel becomes, the deeper my desire to have my own eternal family has become, and thank goodness for this step by step instruction as to how I should go about it (let's face it...I need all the instruction I can get)! I am so excited for conference this weekend. It is going to be the perfect pick me up. hmmmmm so happy!
And really... great issue- read it!
(sorry Gary, for stealing it...you weren't using it anyway!)
